The Arts in Peoria

Peoria has a vibrant arts community on par with major American cities. A $100 million, 6.8 acre development called Museum Square is being planned for completion in 2009. Located along the Riverfront, it will house the Peoria Riverfront Museum, The Center of Art, History, Science and Achievement and the Caterpillar Visitor Center. The 110,000 square foot museum will feature interactive displays, planetarium and imaginarium.

Also located on the riverfront are the studios of celebrated artists, Preston Jackson and Lonnie Stewart. Nationally recognized sculptor, painter and musician Preston Jackson leads instruction for the Contemporary Art Center’s (CAC) educational program. The CAC offers classes, exhibits and live music and is considered a catalyst for advancing contemporary arts.
