Germantown Hills, IL Area Information
A pleasant village located in Woodford County, Illinois, Germantown Hills is nestled between Peoria and Metamora. Illinois State Highway 116 runs through the center of the charming village and fuels Germantown Hill’s development as well as providing quick access for residents to nearby shopping, entertainment and dining.
Named after German Catholics who settled the area in the 1830’s, Germantown Hills was largely agricultural and in 1850 William Hoshor built Germantown House, a now historic landmark. The village was not officially named Germantown Hills until 1967. Germantown Hills hosts two schools, Germantown Hills Elementary School and Germantown Hills Middle School teaching grades K-4 and 5-8, respectively. For 9-12, students attend Metamora Township High School, which is in the close, neighboring town.
Though small, Germantown Hills does have some shopping and convenience stores and what isn’t located in the village is easily accessed in the neighboring towns from I-116.
