4717 N Grand View Drive
This exquisite piece of Peoria’s history is brought to you exclusively by The Knell Group. Design was inspired by a visit to a French renaissance chateau outside of Paris, and was brought to life by a Peoria architect, Eugene Robinson. For over eighty years this Peoria Icon has resided on exquisite Grand View Drive and has established itself as a feature of the drive. Entering the estate begins with the curving drive, beneath a canopy of trees and wooded glen, over a gently arched stone bridge which lead visitors to an iron-studded, hand-hewn oak door, to the entrance of “The Castle" . Sweeping views of the Illinois river and valley, manicured terrace and gardens grace nearly every room of this four story masterpiece. The interior is punctuated by a five-story domed tower staircase, accented by a brass railing and a nineteenth century crystal chandelier suspended from the thirty-two foot ceiling. Numerous original details throughout such as a towering stone fireplace with inlaid marble, grand formal rooms and an elegant ballroom. Filigree iron gates leading to the main living floor, a massive gothic arch connecting the living room and formal dining room as well as terraces and balconies off of several key rooms are details that only a talented architect such as Robinson could envision. This architectural masterpiece is distinguished by not only it’s original charm, but period conscious updates in order to keep this residence in spectacular condition.
